Rice Industry By-Products as Adsorbent Materials for Removing Fluoride and Arsenic from Drinking Water—A Review

چکیده
In drinking water, high concentrations of fluoride and arsenic can have adverse effects on human health. Waste deriving from the rice industry (rice husk, straw, bran) be promising adsorbent materials, because they are (i) produced in large quantities many parts world, (ii) recoverable a circular economy perspective, (iii) at low cost if compared to expensive conventional activated carbon, (iv) easily manageable even developing countries. For removal fluoride, husk straw allowed obtain adsorption capacities range 7.9–15.2 mg/g. Using for adsorption, excellent results were achieved with above 19 The best both fluorides (>50 mg/g) found metal- or chemical-modified husk. Identifying next steps future research ensure upscaling biochar recovered by-products, it is fundamental perform: tests real waters multicomponent adsorption; experiments pilot plants continuous operation; analysis/real applicability modification treatments such as metal coupling chemical synthesis; more studies stability its regeneration recovery after use.

Safer sips: removing arsenic from drinking water.
U.S. researchers are developing technologies that may someday protect millions of people worldwide whose drinking water is tainted with arsenic. Arsenic is released into water from soil and rock erosion, and is also a by-product of industrial processes including semiconductor manufacturing, petroleum refining, and mining and smelting operations.
متن کاملBayoxide: An effective adsorbent for making arsenic free drinking water
Batch sorption experiments were carried out to remove As(III) from aqueous solution by using iron based commercial adsorbent Bayoxide. The effects of various experimental parameters, such as initial concentration, contact time and solution pH on the adsorption of As(III) on adsorbent was investigated. The adsorption density increased with increased initial arsenic concentration and contact time...
متن کاملUsing Generation 3 Polyamidoamine Dendrimer as Adsorbent for the Removal of Pentavalent Arsenic from Aqueous Solutions
Introduction: Arsenic is known as a carcinogenic compound in drinking water. It can cause acute and chronic effects on human health. In this study, the effect of polyamidoamine dendrimer generation 3 (PAMAM G3) as adsorbents for removal of arsenic (V) from aqueous solutions was evaluated. Materials and Methods: Adsorption experiment was studied in batch system and the effect of different varia...
متن کاملReview of fluoride removal from drinking water.
Fluoride in drinking water has a profound effect on teeth and bones. Up to a small level (1-1.5mg/L) this strengthens the enamel. Concentrations in the range of 1.5-4 mg/L result in dental fluorosis whereas with prolonged exposure at still higher fluoride concentrations (4-10mg/L) dental fluorosis progresses to skeletal fluorosis. High fluoride concentrations in groundwater, up to more than 30 ...
متن کاملAdsorbent materials from paper industry waste materials and their use in Cu(II) removal from water.
This paper deals with the removal of Cu(2+) from water using adsorbent materials prepared from paper industry waste materials (one de-inking paper sludge and other sludge from virgin pulp mill). Experimental results showed that de-inking paper sludge leads to mesoporous materials (V(mic)/V(T)=0.13 and 0.14), whereas the sludge from virgin pulp mill produces high microporous adsorbents (V(mic)/V...
